The Broken Man Ride

So today I rode what was to be a special fundraiser in my back yard as described in the above link. Now after reading that, you would expect that the fund-raisee would have been in a wheelchair, laid up with no movement from the neck down. That was not the case. Although the injuries were serious, he is expected to make a full recovery and was at the event cheering everyone on with a stiff neck-brace. I was a bit surprised, but was glad to see that a fellow rider was not going to be a quadropalgic. I can't even imagine what the medical bills would be like without health insurance. Anyways, it was a great turn out and a good time. Got a little hot on some of the climbs, but it was interesting watching a lot of different people riding Santiago for the first time.

Truck Bling

Okay, so I added truck bling the last couple of weeks. Not so much to make the truck look good, but for some needed functionality. I wish I could have gone with black powder coated parts, but stainless steel holds up better and doesn't rust. Plus SS is guaranteed for life pretty much. Added a brush guard in the front, tail light guards and much needed nerf/step bars. Also TRD license plate frames. Tomorrow, I take the truck to get my roof racks and gear basket put on. Thank goodness those and the license plate frames aren't shiny either. Still need the windows tinted. All this in the name of adventure and adventure racing.
